Modules for Universities on Sustainable Development Science (MOUDS)

The publication in September 2010 of the Sustainable Development book written by two doctors of the URV Geography Department, Òscar Saladié and Josep Oliveras, with the DOW/URV Chair of Sustainable Development sponsorship, represents the culmination of five years of investigation on sustainability topics. The aim of this book is offering a reference text for the university students, that is, a book that would explain why our world needs a sustainable development. The book provides plenty of totally updated, in the moment of the publication, data and other graphic information. Since the digital format is a more flexible and accessible one, the MOUDS project has been designed in order to give an additional service for the users of the book, but also to make its content available for those who haven’t acquired it, especially for lecturers and students whose studies are related with the Sustainable Development. MOUDS’s webpage will be successively expanded with more content from the book, that is, more chapters that will be previously revised and amplified by several experts on each area and also continually updated in terms of statistic sources. Moreover, there will be available interactive elements, as widening and assessment activities for the students. MOUDS also provides Spanish and English translations, with the purpose of reaching a larger public.  The collection is making its debut with the World Population and Sustainable Development module, which will be soon available in the three MOUDS’ languages. In the near future the rest of the content will be published. The webpage will provide more information on the planned launches. We hope it will be a useful tool to work with.
